A Drinking Problem

I’ve struggled with drinking too, mostly when things got rough at work or home. There was a point where having a drink after mowing the yard or just to relax on weekends became an everyday habit, and suddenly it was hard to stop. Honestly, it took me wrecking a really good friendship for me to realize I needed help, and quitting was way harder than I expected. Even now, there are times when I crave a cold one, but I just remind myself what it cost me before. If anyone’s found themselves in a cycle like that and wants real support, ever tried Abbeycare? A buddy got treatment through them and said their mix of therapy and aftercare felt different from anything else he tried.

I never have understood the desire for excessive drinking, I can go for months and not have an adult beverage and just drink one or two….
I believe the last time I was totally inebriated was when I was 18 ish, drinking with a bunch of my friends slo gin…..
Never was so sick in my life.

Maybe that is the cure!
Get every kid vaccinated with excessive slo gin at a young age!!!

I found out when I was 16 that Sloe gin is dangerous to teenagers.
I mixed it 50/50 with Crush strawberry pop. It was tasty and easy going down and still red when coming back up. And really painful when Dad found out.

I had a similar story but we drank a lot of wine, and I couldn't even look at it for years.

Maybe, I'm not sure, that was 57 years ago.
I'm hooked on coffee or V8 juice now.
The kid in me still likes strawberry pop.

As much as I liked partying when younger, I never liked doing the "wake and bake" thing.

I drank quite a bit in my 20's, beer & gin, mostly in social settings. I gave it up in my 30's out of necessity when I started building the house. That took most of my free time & money. Still does to some extent even today. I'll have a beer with friends now & then but that's about it.

The only drinking problem I have now is when I spill my coffee.

My father was a drunk. We always thought that the cirrhosis or the emphysema would get him but it was ALS in the end. My aunt, his sister, called him the rottenist sob this side of ******.

Anyway, when he retired, he took up making some, etc. in the basement
It looks like a mass chemist at work. His buddies would come by to help stir the wine. They could barely make it up the outside stairs.

I miss drinking, but not enough to start back up again. I really miss a beer with dinner, or whiskey in the evening, but I made my poor decisions and I'm better off to just keep on the wagon.

I still have a beer bottle huggie that says,
"Homer Alaska, a quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem.
I'D like to return but at my age that is a dream." There is very good fishing there.
