This was the first weekend I really cranked up the hourmeter, putting 6 hours on.
First job was to dig the footers for expanding my shed since only the tractor fits (with a shoehorn with the 60" MMM attached), the FEL and BH get parked in the garage for now. Going from a 12' x 16' to 16' x 20' to hold the '22 with all of its appendages. Once I got the hang of it with the correct FEL bucket angle, you can really scrape up dirt quickly. I also downed a 10" oak that was in the way of the shed extension, and spent about an hour digging out the stump.
As an interlude, I ended up selling my old Simplicity that the Bota replaced. Got dozens of call for it so I must'a priced it too cheap, but and all of its attachments are gone, yielding a lot of space. Used the FEL to load most of the attachments on the guy's pickup - piece a cake.
The most fun I had was clearing the woods behind my 8.5' C band satellite dish. As usual the saplings and various weeds were starting to obstruct part of the sky view. This year instead of the pruners and chainsaw, I took the Bota out there and used the FEL as a clearing blade. All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE. With bar tires, low gear and 4WD the thing is like a tank. I was easily pushing around 12" diameter 15' long hardwood tree trunks (from previous clearing) like toothpicks. In less than 1/2 hour I cleared a jungle about 100' x 100'. It was so easy to clear the area I may have to retire some gardening tools. The only injury was one of the lenses of the small turn signal got popped off and for the life of me I couldn't find it. I thing it is most likely buried in the soft mulchy ground somewhere. I checked the parts book and nicely Kubota sells the individual lenses so I don't have to buy a whole new lamp.
Last the wife was expanding flower beds and I used the FEL to scrape off sod. Getting the bucket just right you can easily remove sod without digging down. Again a real time and back saver. I then dug a hole for some big schrub she was planting - a 3 minute job with the BH (after you are setup). Late this week the little plastic pond goes in. I refused to let her get one before since I had no interest in digging that hole. Now I had no excuse so she went out and got one. I just can't tell her that it will be fun doing it.
Fabulous little machine that makes a bunch of jobs a snap. BTW with over 20 hours on the clock, only 10 gallons burned so far ! Another great benefit.
