9n Electrical Problem

if it is a single wire.. then it uses a cutout.. or a vreg with only 2 wires hooked up. bat and arm .. IE.. just using the cutout portion of the reg.

the cutout may be stuck ( vreg or simple cutout ) or installed incorrectly...

OK. I reattached the battery and it started up after sitting disconnected for 24hrs. Now I'll try and find a short.

test lamp.... inline with bat cable...

Thanks Soundguy.

I only pulled the cable while running once maybe twice to make sure the generator was powering the ignition system. The generator is a single wire replacement I got from Stephens Tractor a couple of weeks ago. The battery has been disconnected since last night. I'll be trying to see if it is working or not this evening. Then I'll see about the other checks you mentioned.

if you have a voltage meter and are trying to find a short.
place the meter leads between the positive ground lead and your ground. Since you do not have a fuse panel, here is the task, one at a time disconnect one lead at a time in your system to determine where the drainage is coming from. Most likely your regulator was not polarized like sound guy said.
