Whew where to begin. I borrowed my dads tractor to mow my field. Come to find out it is need of some repair. First off he swears it is a 9N, but there is a 8N cast into where the engine mounts to the tranmission. I found out where the engine numbers are but of course they are impossible to read. Hand stamped. I can take some pictures if needed. The fenders have "Ford" stamped into them. The radiator cover has two levers you depress and it pivots out of way. Carburator is a Marvel 241B. Can anyone tell me if its a 8N or 9N by that? Are they other numbers stamped somewhere I can look at?
Ok so here are the issues. The water pump is leaking out the weep hole. Assuming I have to replace it do I have to take off the hood? Is there a schematic anywhere showing the bolting locations?
It dies after about 15 minutes of mowing. Acts like it runs out of gas or choke is on. If you let it sit for a minute it starts and barely idles. If you let it sit longer it starts and idles like nothing is wrong. Any ideas? I have the carb off now to clean it out thinking something was clogging a jet. Could it be something else?
