Hello everyone. Looking for some help. Tractor is a 1950 8n with the side mount distributor. Recently the tractor started bogging down while driving up hill or while pulling any type of load, also throttle response seemed sluggish. After checking the fuel screens, carb adjustments etc, I took off the governor and it was warped bad. Appears its been sanded numerous times before since the housing is much thinner than the good used replacement I bought. Once the governor was removed I noticed somebody over the years must have reversed the screws on the governor because the cam gear had damage on every tooth, some of the teeth were 75% gone. The crank, distributor drive and oil pump gears are fine though. My problem is the cam gear that was on the tractor is the aluminum 4 bolt type. Once unbolted, i was able to remove it since the hole was large enough to go over the pressed on distributor gear. The used replacement I purchased does not have the hole large enough to go over the distributor gear. The cam gear I took off the tractor was marked .012 OS, after looking at the parts manual I'm thinking it 7RA6256C. The one I purchased, is marked .003 and does not have the holes in the casting like the one I took off. Is it necessary to remove the cam and press off the distributor gear to replace the cam gear or did I buy the wrong replacement or is something else going on. Thanks in advance for any help.
