Hey yall, it's been a while. The weather's calling for 3-5" in the AM and it reminded of last year's snow in Dec.

This is the old 790 plowing in some pretty good snow. It takes four miles to plow the driveway. The 790 could only push about a foot of snow at a time, so you had to take the top off on one pass, then come back and get the rest with a second pass. Repeat for other side of drive.

Actually you could get some speed going downhill, it could really throw some deep snow, probably 16" or so.

Merry Christmas,

Charley

Looks like the tractor has R4's.

I wonder if Ag's or chains would show a better performance.??

I would think the answer would be yes.

Have you thought of adding chains.??

Isn't that why we have cup-holders now.....so we don't have to leave quality seat time

Unfortunately, the 790's don't have cup holders.
But, with 4 miles of plowing, I'd want a big thermos!!

So was the problem traction or power? If its traction, put on some weights front and rear until you stop the slipping tire(s). Rears loaded?

If it's a power problem. increase the angle of the blade. Are you also running with the rear blade down? That's like running with the brakes on. I suppose you could be running with the front blade at 4 inches and the rear blade full down and angled to clear out the rest. You need to be running at a moderate speed to shunt snow of that amount. Creeper gear range is not going to cut it. When I do the roadway on my 'street' I'm flying in top gear full throttle. If it starts to bog down, I increase the angle until the rpms come back up. I'm running 250 lbs extra front weight and loaded rears.
