John Deere 755
Hello I have been searching for a belly mount mower for my dads 755 that he bought when I was 2 ever since I bought my house. I managed to score one off of an 855 complete with owners manual and in what appears to be nearly unused condition. The problem is I cannot seem to successfully mount it to my tractor. I have already discovered through alot of time on google that I will need to change the driveshaft. However everything else "should" work. I have the 855 links which should be fine according to the manual as I have the 33" tires, however these still seem too long, as do the front draw bars, need help!

That's because the frame of the 855 and 955 is physically longer than the 755. You'll have to come up with a set of drafts bars from a 755.

On JD's parts site they list the same part number for the draft bars for all three models, as does the mower manual...
However, I did just find that the front frame brackets are different! Can anyone confirm this?

I see the 755 and 855 do list different part numbers for the front bracket as you say. I was not aware of any difference in that area so I do not know if that is a problem. I believed the mower deck attachment points are the same, and the frame length difference was simply handled by the longer drive shaft. Can you more completely describe what you think does fit and what does not. Does the front bracket not fit?

Also this recent thread could be useful to you.

I have read through that thread and did not identify any obvious issues from it. The bracket will indeed go on the frame of my tractor, however the front draft bars are way too long, the only way I can get them on is if I raise the rear of the deck with the lift arms at which point the deck is horribly out of level (front dragging rear all the way up.) It also does not lift very high at all, however it sounds like that may be normal.

This is a pretty rough measurement, but if your draft arms are way too long as you say it may be helpful. The straight line horizontal distance from under the point where the arm attaches to the front bracket back to the attaching pin on the deck is a little over 19 inches plus or minus. Also make sure your rear draft arms are attached.

Definitely further forward where the draft arms mount, my bracket puts it directly under the rear pin! Thanks!!!!

I have to do some digging in the shed but I may have the front draft assembly.

When I first installed my 60" MMM from another 855 to my 855, I had to unscrew the clevis ends from the front draft arms, clean well with a rotary wire brush, lube liberally with anti seize compound and adjust for my tractor.

You may have enough adjustment in those threads to make it work.

Good luck

how long should the driveshaft be for the 60" mower on the model 755? I have the same problem and I can easily adjust the arm length but the driveshaft is another problem...

The front portion of the driveshaft including the u-joint is ten and one half inches.

Thanks for you previous response.

What is the length from end to end?

/ 755 Belly Mount Mower Mounting Problems #13
The overall length will vary of course since it is a slip connection. Later I could try to get farther under and measure the current as installed length.

BTW, welcome to TBN!

Hard to get a real accurate reading. The deck is raised because the loader is installed and it's pretty tight under there for both viewing and holding a tape measure. The rear section of the drive shaft is six inches including the coupling collar. There is one inch of spline shaft showing. So the current overall length as installed with deck raised is about 17 and one half inches.

can anyone tell me what type of tractor a john deere 60" mid mower deck with numbers M02733x595*** goes to? I bought it to go onto a john deere 755 and nothing seems to fit.

thanks so much

That serial number begins with the same M0273 as mine, so it might fit a 755. Problem is, the 60 inch deck fits a lot of tractor models and each of those requires its own specific set of mounting hardware. Your problem is very common when buying any used tractor attachments. You have to make sure all the attaching hardware is included and is correct for your model tractor. I know that can be difficult sometimes unless you can see it actually on your model before buying. If you can provide pictures of what you have we may be able to provide some guidance. That is a good sturdy deck and there are a lot of them out there.

thanks for the information. That explains why I have had so much trouble with it. It appears from seeing pictures of a 755 mower deck, the gearbox is on the left side of the center blade pulley where as on mine it is on the right. I have cut the drive shaft down shorter and when I hooked it up it does turn the blades even though the drive shaft is offset quite a bit. The arms that connect to the bottom brackets under the tractor were very tight to connect. This is probably due to the arms not being correct either. They curve down at the rear of the deck as if they are actually for a 750 tractor (when looking at pictures on ebay). This I believe is a simple fix as I think all I need to do is lengthen the rear lift arms to connect to the lowered deck arms. I know I will have to modify the front draft arms as they appear too short (by 2 to 3"). That or I spent $80 to buy the draft arms off a 655 tractor for a 50" deck which is currently on sale on ebay.rear mower deck arms.jpg. I have enclosed a picture of what I have. Keep in mind that the rear of the arms will get lower as the front of the arms will be raised to connect to the tractor.
