I just replaced the pump shaft on my hydraulic pump for my 730 loader. Is there a right and wrong way to place the ring assy. when you put the pump back together?

Pictures or a better description of which ring assembly you are referring to would be helpful. Pump model would also help narrow down the options.

thanks

Might you be referring to the center section of the hydraulic pump of a Ford 730 Loader? If so, then yes. Match the pressure and return line connections of the loader.

Sorry. I have tried to put an attachment on but I am unable to do so. The numbers shown are from my parts book for Series 730 19-426 page 17. Book dates April 1965. PA-9369 on left corner of the pages. The pump consists of #13 Pump Cover(connects to output line and #1 Hydraulic Pump Cover(suction tube from the oil tank). The #7 Pump Cartridge Kit consists of the ring assy, rotor . The rotor contains 12 wanes #8. The rotor fits into the ring assemby but can go in four different ways. I seem to have the pump pumping in the wrong direction.

Thanks

O.K. You have the original Vickers vane pump. As you view the center section (ring) you will see that on the intake (return) side the vanes can extend the maximum amount. On the opposite side (outlet/pressure) the vanes can extend the minimum amount. Orient the "ring" so the inlet is on the left side, as viewed in the direction of forward travel, and the outlet/pressure side is on the right (the same side as the loader control valve). You should be good to go.

MNSQUIRE,

The cam ring (center section ) has a direction arrow on it,on the outside of the casting, that will show rotation of the input shaft.......flip the cam ring over 180 degrees to change direction.....

Thank you Gentlemen. I got the pump to pump correctly now I have another problem. The pump drive shaft couplers slide towards the pump on the pump shaft and come out of the connection at the crank. I find no spacer or spring to hold the shafts into the crank connection in the parts book.
Thanks again for your help.

A piece of pipe or tubing cut to size works.....

That's what I was thinking but was concerned about the spacer wearing down as the tractor side will be against the hub assembly as it turns and the outside against the pump housing the doesn't turn.
