Anyone know if the cab needs to be removed to service Godzilla motors.

My son says no. His shop does a lot of Ford diesels, mostly 6.4's, Lol

Those 6.4 were monsters, but the 1st gen of DPF motors. Using the exhaust stroke to dump fuel in 7 & 8 Cylinders to provide the fuel to burn off the DPF was a mistake. It just diluted the oil with diesel fuel and cause a lot of valves and lifters to die a premature death due to bad lubricity.

Never go more than 3k on a 6.4

Every day I thank God I was able to unload my 6.4’s last year. Those trucks were so troublesome. Nice truck to own/operate when running right, but the 6.4L was a nightmare to keep running.
We would have 1-2 running and 1-2 in the shop at all times for 6.4 issues.
Neat design, but truly a diesel engine designed on paper by engineers and never proven in the field.

I guess I would question what kind of "service"

And there is also a difference between "have to" and it simply makes it easier IF you have the equipment.

They "say" the cab (or at least the fenders) need to come off to put head studs on a 6.0 powerstroke. But I can assure you it CAN be done without. Is it easy....nope. But it still can be done.

Then there’s the oil pan removal on a 7.3L Powerstroke…….

Water pump is an all day job on a 7.3 diesel. They can make big power tho and are pretty durable. My brothers '96 Super Duty (pre F-450) is a runner. Major mods, including propane.

At the sled pulls, Bobcat for weight since his is a 4x2:)
