660 rototiller

I inherited a JD 660 Rototiller.
No manual or instructions.

What kind of oil do I use on the side,
where the gears are?
Has a case over what may be a chain drive.

Welcome to TBN. The 660 is a very good tiller. One of the local rental businesses still uses them.

The owner's manual recommends using gear lube - either 75W-90 or 90W-150 - depending upon expected operating temps.

I use 75W-90 'cause I don't expect to be rototilling when it's 100F outside...
