Does anyone have a Bobcat 62'' snowblower on their 200 series tractor. When bobcat shipped the blower the shaft from the mid mount pto foward was 10'' to long( the collapsible shaft at the blower is fine). Yesterday the guy that put the blower on the tractor came up with a new shaft and it was approximately 5'' to long. All of the brackets are on the tractor right. Has anyone else ran into this problem? How long is the shaft on your tractor?

Don't know anything about that blower. But, it's not uncommon to have to cut drive shafts to fit. Usually, an intalling dealer will do that for you. But, because the front mount blowers are relatively new, he may not have been aware of that. Should be pretty easy to cut to the right length.

The blower has been out since 2009. There is nothing in the instructions that says anything about cutting the shaft. The shaft sounds like it is has plastic on the inside. The shaft that is too long is a 1 peice shaft not a collapsible shaft like a pto shaft. I don't want a cut shaft in it.

Is the dealer working with you to get the right shaft?

Yes the dealer is working with me to get the right shaft. They have been very good to me. They delivered the tractor then came backup and got it and put the blower on it. Then brought it back home. Then last thursday the guy that installed the blower came out with the shaft bobcat said was correct and it was still wrong. Then last Friday the guy came back out to get pictures of how the blower is on the tractor because bobcat said something was installed wrong. I have looked everything over and I am a mechanic and I even looked at the installtion instructions and can't see anything wrong unless they sent a wrong bracket.

I have a 235 with the front mount 62 inch snowblower. After reading your post I measured my shaft from the mid PTO to what Bobcat refers to the front PTO. The shaft is spot on 54 inches. Hope this helps.

I should have also mentioned it is a solid shaft that can not be, and was not, cut down.

Thanks for measuring your shaft. Is that measurement overall length? I am going to stick the carrier bearing assembly and see what mine needs to be. How do you like the blower?

The measurement is the overall length from the end of the yoke to the end of the other yoke.
I would be willing to bet that they have the front PTO kit for the one hundred series tractor part number 7189052 rather than the correct front PTO kit for the 200 series which is 7181016. The part number for the correct shaft that goes on your tractor, and mine, is 7169115. There are very few differences between the PTO kit for the 100s versus the 200 series tractors except for the length of the shaft and a couple of screws.

I have not been able to use the blower much as the snow stopped the day before it was delivered. Now I am assuming it will never snow again. I was very impressed with the blowing of residual piles that were around. Blows snow about 30-35 feet by my measurements.
Hope this helps.

As close as I can tell it looks like my shaft needs to be 54.5" to 55" long. My tractor is 51 5/8 between the mid mount pto and the front pto.

The shaft does not go all the way onto the mid PTO. It only goes on so the end of the PTO is flush with the drive shaft yoke. See figure 9 in the instructions. This leaves a bit more than an inch gap where you can see the mid PTO spline shaft. The yoke on the other end, ( the front PTO) goes on with only a small gap to the collar on the stub shaft, about 3/8 inch. If you take this into consideration I think you will find the shaft needs to be 54 inches.

I measued it like you said and as close as I can tell I need a 54" shaft. So that would make all of the brackets correct. Thanks for the help, now I know I just need a shaft. Hopefully I will eventually get it.

Where did you get the number for the shaft?

It comes from the installation instructions, page 10, which is a parts list for the front PTO kit.

I looked at that the one day the guy came up to get pictures but I did not get a copy, all I have is a owners manual.

Are you using a back blade with your 235? I'm in the market trying to decide which one to do mild driveway grading, and snow removal augmentation. Any experience you might have would be appreciated.
I will only be available till noon on the 16th in case you have any other questions regarding the blower. Will be back again in about 10 days. Good luck getting the right shaft.

I bought a woods rb72 back in december for my 8n ford, then I bought this tractor. Now I wish I had a heavier duty blade. I don't use 4wd or locking differential. the rb72 is alright for pretty light work but if you want to cut some ditches or do grading its a little weak, the thing flexes alot. The rb72 is fine for move a pile of loose topsoil. If I could sell this blade I would get a woods hbl72. I made a thread a week or so ago asking about blades and someone posted a pic of a bushhog 50 series blade. It is a nice looking blade. I would not recommend a woods rb series or 35 series bushhog. thanks for your help, I should be good to go once I get the correct shaft.

I have had a back box for years, I used to use it on my 8N, and I struggled last fall deciding if I should purchase a rear blade.
I used the back box this winter and loved it, between snow in the winter and grading in the summer it is perfect
:)
