I am thinking about trading up to a BX2230 and was wondering if I should go with a 54 or 60 inch deck. Does the 60 have a tendency to scalp or clump? I have a hilly yard with some swayles here and there, lumps etc.(the yard is not golf course material). I have a 54 on a smaller BX now and it seems to work ok. How well does the 60 work with a bagger set up? Would it be a mistake to buy the 54 for the larger machine?

I have a 62" mmm on my JD 2210 and I have no issues with scalping. My property is hilly and has some ruts. The only issue you may have is fitting through gates or garage doors. If you do not have an issue with storage, I would get the larger deck.

Do you have enough room to manoeuvre a 60" deck around trees, gardens, doorways, etc.? If so, the 60" deck will give you about a 10% increase in productivity. I doubt that there would be any difference in scalping, etc. Similarly, I can't see why there would be any difference in bagger performance. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Automech,

You may want to post this in the Kubota forum. If I remember right the 60" was actually a different mower and did a much nicer job. Again I am going by memory and at my age there isn't much there but I do remember some discussion about this in the Kubota section.
