Hey all, I recently purchased a MF GC1720 and I got a 60 box blade with it. I知 having second thoughts as to if I should have got the 48 blade... however, I could just use less scarrifiers or even set them low. Anybody have a similar configuration? The machine is 25 hp. I also thought that since I have a hilly property, that maybe the 60 could offer me something to aid in the event of getting tipsy 🤔 thoughts?

I have a 4' BB for my GC2310, and it's probably the right size for a subcompact. I would not consider going bigger.

It's not so much the HP, but the weight to be able to have the necessary traction to pull it.

However, soil type, terrain, conditions, tires, and operator skill level, are all factors in whether or not you can be effective with a particular size implement.

So, no matter what others experience, it's still going to be up to you.

I havea 54" heavy box blade for my LS mt125 (similar sized tractor as yours). I can lower the rippers all the way down when the soil is moist. There is a very fine line as to having too much moisture, then the tires will slip. When it's dry, they can just barely scratch the surface or it will just dig in, and I can't move. On stone /gravel , usually no problem at all.

I was thinking scrapper for my applications and sort of come to conclusion 54" would be about the maximum for my GC 1715...

Most of what I have read is you want about 6 inches more than tractor width, which I believe is 44 inches for small GC series

48/54/60" is pretty well up to you. All can work. The biggest drawback on a 60" IMO is the extra 6" sticking out on each side of the tractor. It is very easy to catch on something while driving past. Be aware of clearances of fence posts, building edges etc.

A boxblade matched to the bucket width can be very handy while landscaping.

I would not use a 60inch, I have a 48inch County Line from TSC, I loose traction easily even with that size. The scarifies dig in and snag roots or rocks and I just spin. I have turf tires and unloaded wheels so that may help.
The 48 inch did help a lot with the 33, 18 yard truck loads of gravel, sand, loam and silt I moved around.

I have a 48" land plane it works well but when it is full of dirt it is plenty big enough.

If it was much bigger I would not have the power to pull it. I was using it with red clay.

OK, so I called my dealer, and they are going to order me a 4' box blade for me. I am going to exchange the one I have for it and a 5 gallon bucket of AGCO hydraulic oil. Sound fair?

Sounds like a good deal to me.
I have a 5-foot brush hog I need to sell/trade for a 4’ for my 1710.
Maybe I will find trade for mine this summer.

So, I'm still waiting on the dealer to get a 4' box blade in... I've been wondering if I can make it work. I just ordered the bro-tek 3" wheel spacers (I don't have a MMM). Wondering if with the width if I should just keep the 5' box and use it? Think with the wider wheel base it would work better with the wider box? I wonder if I got the 4' box if it would be narrower than the wheels now? Anybody have a similar setup? Thanks for any input!
