Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

I bought a used King Kutter 6' light duty rear blade last year for $150.

My guess is this is a better (heavier) unit.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

I just bought a 5' medium duty with offset, tilt and angle adjustments from Corrier for $355 +105.00 for shipping. This thing is a beast weighs around 300lbs. Probably overkill for my needs and my old B7200 but worth the money.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

your 7200 is about the same size as my 7100 did you have any trouble picking it up? and did you think about a 4 foot I dont know weather to go with a 4 or 5 footer

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Hey,
My tractor has no problem lifting the blade. It is however difficult to move around once it's off. The 5 foot seems to be the right size for me bieng that my rear track is 4'. With the offset feature you could probably get away with 4' and just offset the blade when necessary.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

I'm rear blade shopping too.

Here in Oregon I've found the following:

King Kutter 72" Offset Light Duty 270lbs - $280
King Kutter 72" Professional - 320lbs - $529
King Kutter 72" Heavy Duty - 620lbs - $849

Howse 72" Farm Blade - 320lbs - $350
Howse 72" Grader Blade - 270lbs - $270

Land Pride 72" Blade - Estate Series - $350

I'm looking for a heavy blade so I'm thinking of getting the KK Heavy Duty but the price on the Howse Farm Blade is pretty good and I can always just add some weights.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Take a look at the blades by Midwest. They are sold under the Midwest brand and also under some other brand names such as Corriher. The reason I like them is because you can make all the adjustements (tilt, swivel and offset) without the use of any tools. Prices seem to run in the mid $300's depending on size.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

I believe you are right Bob. My blade came from Corriher and appears to be the same as a Midwest blade. It functions the same way you described. I did have a problem with the lower link arms that connect the blade to the tractor hitting the inside of my tires (turfs), Has anyone else had this problem? It looks like the pins on the blade may be spaced to far out. Any input?
Thanks, Pete

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Pete, Corrhier's blade is made by Midwest.

As for your problem of hitting the tires, I'm not sure what type of tractor you have, but you should have some adjustable anti-sway bars, chains or turnbuckles that you can use to adjust the lower links so they have less lateral play. A lot of older tractors I've played with didn't have any at all, and many of the old machines (like the antique Olivers I like to play with) have a non-adjustable sway bars made out of long flat pieces of steel.

To prevent contact with your rear tires you need to tighten up the anti-sway bars. On my B2910 it has something that looks like a perforated square tube that slides over smaller similar tube and is locked into place with pin. On my TC24D it uses a simple turnbuckle design. In either case, the desired effect you are looking for is to simply shorten lenght of the adjustment enough so that when the implement is raised you cannot push it sideways into the rear tires. You have to leave enough lateral play to get the implement on and off. You may well find that you have to make adjustments for several of your implements when you change them because they are slightly different sizes.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Hey Bob,
Thanks for your reply. There are no swaybars on MY b7200 links. I'm off tomorrow and will make some. There are attachment points on the links but I never had any. Will check it out. Could have used that blade for the foot of snow I had to get off 300' of driveway today! Thanks again.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Hey Scott,
I'm in East Quogue (between West Hampton & Hampton Bays) about 20 minutes from Montauk this time of year and an hour and a half in the summer! Lol. Spent my summers and my Grandparents place on Ditch Plains as a kid. Real nice to be in Montauk. Spent all day diggin out yesterday about a foot of snow. It was FUN and my neighbors don't mind me as much now that I dug most of them out as well!!!!
Take care as well,
Pete

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

I have the same blade and like it a lot. I have it on a TC 30 and it works well for grading the road and for snow removal. It is a well built blade in my opinion. I paid $340 for mine out the door.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Ended up getting a SL-6 for $290.00. The SO-6 was misplaced in the row of 6' blades, they wanted around $400.00 for the SO-6. The SL-6 seems to be fairly well built, looks a bit heavier than the entry level, store brand blades. I would guess it weighs in the upper 200 lb range.

SL-6 doesn't have the tilt feature but does have 5 angle settings forward and reverse and offsets up to about 18" by loosening two bolts on the 4" main beam.

Performed very well behind the B2910 in about 7" of snow. Cleared my drive, the road leading up to the house and 5 five of my neighbors drives, some up to 1/4 mile long and relatively steep.

Couldn't convince the wife that I was working /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif but she was happy that we could help out the neighbors.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Pete,

Don't know about yours but most tractors have rear wheels that can be reassembled and/or turned around to adjust the overall width across the back tires. If your sway bars don't help, the tire spacing may need to be wider, especially with those turfs. Sorry if you knew that.

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Yeah I didnt really look at widening the rear track but the sway bars didnt eliminate the problem. I measured the mounting points on my Kubota impliments and they are all spaced at between 17& 21 inches give or take. The distance between the pins on the blade is 26 which really spreads out the links. I'm thinking I might just relocate them by welding some 2&1/2X1/4 angle to the top of the deck and mount the pins closer together. What do you guys think?

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

Hey Bob Skurka and others,

Hi, question about the Midwest blades...

I have a MF GC2300. The midwest blade RB22 - 60" seems to be the way to go for me. I will be using for snow/gravel in the driveway, but also to make some bench cuts in hills for a jogging trail in my woods. Any thoughts as to whether this is a good blade for my needs?

Thanks,

Re: 6\' Offset Rear Blade Fair Price?

I have a bx22 subcompact tractor. I bought the midwest 5'
rear blade for my tractor. The mounting of the lift arms is a little high and the top link is too close. I may have to have a welder modify the blade to better fit my tractor. I would think the woods estate series would fit a sub compact tractor better. That said I think the blade is good quality at a good price. David.
