I just recently bought a 97 575 DI. I have noticed that the pto shaft appears to be slightly bent. I really dont think it is bad enough to matter but am wondering what it would take to fix it and what a new shaft would cost. Any help would be appreciated.

Are these good tractors? It seems to be ok to me.

Don't operate it with a bent shaft. Doing so will destroy the gear set inside the tractor! You want no vibrations!

Now my diff lock is stuck in the engaged position. I am starting to wonder if I messed up by buying this. Has anybody had this happen before.

Try backing up .... also get on blacktop and turn, back etc... you should hear it pop and come undone.

I tried turnning on my concrete drive while working the nob and backing up while doing the same thing. Ive tried clamping vicegrips on the shaft to pull it out but cant get it out no matter what. I think that I am going to pull the hydraulic assembly off so I can get to the clutch and replace all of the worn and damaged parts. While I am at it I am going to fix the pto shaft. After this, I think I will have a very good tractor I hope. Even after spending 500 on parts, I believe this is the best tractor that I could afford and I could probably get my money back this spring if I decide to sell it.

The 575DI is a good tractor. I have a 485 DI. Good, simple, and generally reliable machines.

Have you tried penetrating oil on the diff. lock rod?

Ive got my 2 problems solved but have another question. Just below and slightly foward of the clutch pedal there is a lever that has 3 positions labeled as high med and low I think. Does anybody know what this does?

The lever is the PTO High-Low Range Speed Selector Lever. Not something I would see you adjusting.
