5610 pto usage and 3pt lift

Other specs include 3180 psi for the rear remote couplers. 3000 psi for the front auxillary couplers. Relief setting for the 3 pt and tilt cylinders is 3335 psi.

I made an error in an earlier post. The relief settings for both the front aux hydraulics, tilt, lift and rear 3 pt is the same. The relief setting is 3045 psi. There are 2 separate relief valves on the main hydraulic control valve. One for the auxillary hydraulics (front) and the other for the lift, tilt and 3 pt.
(The port relief/anticavitation valve setting for the lift, tilt and 3 pt is 3335 psi.)
The 3180 psi for the rear couplers is correct. This uses a different valve and relief than the main hydraulic control valve.

I hope one of you guys has tried mowing and has something good to say about the pto. Also, I was wondering why they couldnt get closer to 40hp on the pto? With 3000 psi and 25 gpm the math works out. My dealer is'nt having any luck finding me a machine to try, anybody want to volunteer theirs?

The trailerwheel on my bush-hog is rusted and won't turn. I have to remove it and clean off the rust before i use it again because now it tears up the turf. The 3 point fertilizer spreader worked fine.

I used an 84" bush-hog behind the 5610 yesterday.
I was cutting 3-4' high grass that was cut regularly last year but not this year.
The Toolcat struggled with it, especially compared to the 38 hp (30 hp at the pto) of my old Kubota CUT. Even with the throttle wide open I had to go very slow or stop to keep it going. The display has a digital read-out of the pto rpm and if I went faster than 3 mph the rpm's would drop quickly. I know this was tall grass but the CUT handled it much easier. I would be curious to see how a 60 or 72" bush-hog would fare. Any feedback on the Bobcat Brushcat in these conditions? I don't plan on letting that grass/field go uncut next year so the bush-hog performance for me is not a big deal. It worked fine on shorter stuff.

Yikes. Sounds like the toolcat didn't do well. Even a 30 hp pto on a CUT will have slightly more hp as the rpms decrease a little from rated pto speed. On most diesel motors, they will generate more pto hp and torque when the rpms drop. Peak torque is probably around 1900-2000 rpms.
On the 5610 hydraulic pto, it is max hp at max flow rate and pressure. When the going gets tough, flow rate drops and so does hp. Your CUT may have been peaking near 33 hp and has a flatter torque curve. 33 hp CUT vs the 25 hp of the toolcat becomes a 30% decrease in pto hp. The hydraulic pto also takes longer to recover its speed.

84" bush hog is probably too much for 25 pto hp, especially in heavy grass. How did the toolcat handle lifting the mower?

I had 5 acres of grass ready to mow. Today, the guy who was suppose to bale it 2 months ago, shows up and clears out my testing ground. I had given up on believing he would mow it this year. I will haul it to the farm and try it out there. My 5610 arrived last week but dealer is adding radio, 3rd rear hydraulic outlet, block heater, air pre-cleaner, step and few other goodies. I was suppose to have it 2 days ago. If it was ready, I would have already mowed the 5 acres. Dealer is having a few issues with the addition of a rear hydraulic diverter.

I have a 72" bush hog to try on the 5610. I tried the 72" bush hog on my Bobcat S300 skid steer with a hydraulic, pto, 3 pt mounted adapter on the SS this summer. My SS has flow of about 21 gpm at 3000 psi. My JD 3720 with 35 pto hp, could mow much more than the SS. The toolcat with the same psi and higher flow rate should do better than the SS.

The 5610 did OK lifting the bush-hog but not as well as the CUT.
It lifted the mower completely off the ground but not the trailerwheel.
This is an issue for me as the trailerwheel is not rotating freely and will drag in the turf. It had no problem with my 6' core aerator or 60 gallon sprayer.

Sorry to bring up the old thread, but now that my 5610 delivery is imminent, I've been doing some research about everybody's experiences with their 5610's.

I came across this thread and was wondering if we could get an update on your 3-pt hitch and PTO experiences. I still have that 88 inch Befco flail mower that I mentioned earlier in this thread and now I'm wondering if I would be able to use it on the 5610 even though the specs for the Befco state a minimum 30 hp PTO.

I'll always prefer to mow with the front mower and avoid the neck ache looking back, but there are always a few times a year when the grass growth will get away from me and I have to deal with a couple of feet of grass. In those conditions the flail mower would work much better that the Bobcat mower deck.

So what's been happening since a year ago?

For me the pto on the 5610 is ok for most tasks. However, my 3720 with about 35-36 hp will out perform the 5610 by a good margin. To a degree, a tractor pto will actually have more hp as the rpms decrease to about 1800-2000 on a CUT. Therefore, it seems to get through the tough work. The hydraulic pto has max power at max pto and then it is all downhill. I used a 6' tiller in hard ground on the TC. My CUT would have done much better and much faster. The tiller on the TC will just keep slowing down until it stops in moderate tilling. Heavy mowing will have the same issues.
