I'll be buying a tractor in a month or so. I stopped in at the Mahindra dealer today and looked at a 5570. I plan on going back next week and asking some more questions, if the salesman can answer them. He didn't seem to be too terribly knowledgeable. That's not too big a deal to me, I can educate myself to a large degree. This site has been a large help.

The Mahindra website, however, is not. Certain models are hard to find unless you just google them and find them that way. I stumbled across a 6530, which other than a few horsepower and about 2K in price seems pretty much identical to the 5570 from the specs I can find.

What's the difference between the two? I have looked and other than what I mentioned, I can't find much.

I wish manufactures would just name the models by the horsepower. A Mahindra 75 or John Deere 50 would be a heck of a lot simpler.

6530 is pre Tier IV. In Tier IV, they changed the nomenclature so that the first 2 digits are the series, the second two are approximate HP. In the old system, it was the opposite. The old system was getting a little cumbersome, as the series numbers were not ascending with tractor size. When they rolled out the new system for Tier IV, they organized it a little better.

The old 30 series is now the 55 series. A 5570 is essentially a Tier IV 6530. If you can find a new 6530, it is certainly a nice tractor. BTW, back in pre Tier III days, the 6530 was a 6500. I hope this helps.

Before you get your sights set on a Tier III model like a 6530, check your dealer's stock and inquire about the possibility of transferring in an aged model if you don't mind some slightly faded paint.
