555DTC Alternator

I'm looking to buy an alternator for my 555DTC, found one at Griggs Lawn & Tractor for $149.
was wondering if anyone has bought an alternator for theirs, where ya might of got it? or has anyone had dealings with Grigg's? on partsforfarmtrac.com they want $527

I would say grab the one for $149. Take your other one with you so you can look at the two together to make sure it will fit and the electrical connection is the same. I did the same with my New Holland once, worked great!!

Usually they can be rebuilt for not much money. We have a guy who usually does it for less than $100

was taking the battery terminals off to remove the alternator n noticed the wiring harness that runs along the underside of the hood had fallen from its support. it had fallen on the exhaust, peeled off the melted wire loom n noticed melted insulation on the wires, patched that all up n fired it up, she's fine... wire had shorted to ground... thanks for the help though!
