5525 ignition switch

Need help with ignition switch on 5525. I have everything in neutral, and have to turn the key numerous times for the starter to engage. It seems to be getting worse on the number of times I have to turn the switch for engagement. I would say approx. 15-20 times. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this issue to determine if it's the switch? I will check the battery terminals for connection, but the last time I was in there they were solid tight. Any other ideas are welcome. Tractor has always been outside with key in ignition some of the time, I don't know if this matters or not?

I have had same problem with my tractor switch.
They are lubricated when assembled to prevent wear and the lubes tend to dry out with age making poor contacts.
I sprayed with WD-40 and that kinda disolved the dried lubricant making it work like new again.

Not sure if it's the same , but I just fixed my 3510 tonight from basically the same thing. It was the small wire that is connected to the positive post on the battery with the cable. It looked fine until I peeled back the heat shrink and it had some build up. I cut the end off and replaced it with a new end and it fires right up now.

Seems fixed for now, used the WD40 on all the electrical connections relating to the ignition switch let it set for two day, hopped on and turned right over, now I have to bleed the air out of the fuel system...apparently when the wife emptied the spreader last she ran all the fuel out, dang it!
