thank u sir...im just gonna get the rod seal..looks like a Teflon ring on the piston..itll go back in ok so im just gonna fix the 20$ / gallon leak...at least its a repairable cyl

My 541 bucker cylinder died on me. I found an exact replacement cylinder(John Deere wanted $890) from Magister Hydraulics for $147 with free shipping!!! Ask for Jilvanny the sales manager and he will give you a better deal. My cylinder is perfect. Hope others will check them out. Mike Mount

Sounds like your luck is going like mine. Lol
I have found it cheaper to buy new cylinders from Magister Hydraulics than to pay the fee from John Deere for the rebuild kits. It took less than thirty minutes to change out the two bucket cylinders with new ones and they worked perfect. Deere wanted within ten dollars for a rebuild kit as I paid for a better built cylinder. Best of luck to you. We are in the middle of hay season right now trying to beat the rains.

I broke the thread end of the rod on one of my cylinders (AH228450 Hydraulic Cylinder) and will need to replace the cylinder and would like to use the Magister Hydraulics Cylinder. Hello Kyle,
I checked key elements of the John Deere AH228450 cylinder used on the bucket rotation (bore size, rod size, mounting hole size, total o誕ll length and most important is the cylinder stroke). The closest Magister Hydraulic Cylinder I could find that could be used as a replacement on the 541 loader is WTG 2.5 X 24. Only reason for picking this cylinder over others that would work is the hydraulic ports to hook up hydraulic lines are on top or bottom instead as on the sides. Also, the WTG 2.5 X 24 cylinder would need spacers on the 1 mounting pins to center the cylinder. Below is web site for Magister Hydraulic that shows standard cylinders. Larry

Thank you. Have you considered the Deere rebuild kits? I need to rebuild ours, but 1st I need to make the spacer that fills in the tube's internal groove...You put the spacer in to keep the keeper from falling into the groove while removing the packing or whatevertheycallit.

Use bondo if you don’t have the filler piece.

I have a lathe and was able to make the internal groove packing ring out of PVC pipe so I could remove components in the end of the cylinder. Yes, like you I have a lathe available. I've made the same filler rings for my Deere 430 loader with smaller diameters. If you can make your own filler rings, You can get by ordering just a couple of seals/orings and packer rings for a bit cheaper.
