I am looking for a manufacturer of a 54" box blade/scraper. Does anyone know of one?

Just to satisfy my curiosity, why a 54 inches? All of the box blades I have seen are 48, 60 and 72 inches.

I don't believe you will find one.

If you have a JD 2520 with 26.5 HP you could probably pull a 60" box blade. You really want to have the box blade slightly wider than your tire width. Please provide us with more information as to your location, soil type, and other intended uses and the TBN readership will be more than willing to help you spend your money . Jay

I priced one of the 54" Landpride box blades somewhere around $675. I think I'm going to get one for my TC18 in the spring. What size tractor will you use it with?

You will at least get a list of manufacturers out there. I think the 54" is perfect for our mid-20 hp machines. I have a TC-24D with a 54" bucket on the FEL and was considering a 54" box blade at one time, but never got one. It would have covered my tracks perfectly, the 48" would have been too small and the 60" probably would have been fine under most conditions for the power I have, but I really wanted a 54". Not all manufacturers make one, but I recall finding quite a few quality units on-line. Unfortunately, none of the local dealers carried the brand.

Good luck in your search

Brad

I have been researching box blades for 2+ years as "She Who Must Be Obeyed a.k.a. Comptroller" will not release the necessary funds :( for this coveted attachment. I believe the TC18 has sufficient power to pull a 42" blade in any soil and probably a 48" blade in lighter soil based only on my research (but no experience). Land Pride has the BB 05 Series which is designed for SCUT's. The 42" weighs 247#'s and can move 6 cubic feet of material, the 48" weighs 277#'s and can move 7 cubic feet of material, and the 54" weighs 298#'s and can move 8 cubic feet.. The BB 15 Series 48" box blade weighs 382#'s and can move apparently 7 cubic feet and the 54" weighs 402#'s and can move 7 cubic feet. If I was you I would get the box blade that is slightly wider than you tire width considering what your rear hydraulics can lift. Heavier box blades work more efficiently and are more robust. You also have to consider where you will be dragging the box blade. The 54" BB might work well in lighter sandy, loamy soil relatively free of rocks and roots. Jay

Welcome to TBN :D! Land Pride makes a 54" box blade for SCUT's and SCUT's according to their website. I believe they are lighter duty units. See them at Land*Pride - The Authority in Tractor Mounted Work Tools,*Riding Mowers & Utility*Vehicles. Jay

Thank you for the information. Soil type would be clay, rock and a little dirt, but mostly clay. I purchased a 2520 with R4's, 200CX FEL/53" bucket, JD's I-Match and a Frontier LR1072 landscape rake. I have built a new home and need to do some landscaping in the spring. I used the tractor for snow removal earlier this week, first time it has been necessary since I purchased the tractor. I left the landscape rake on for a little counterweight, and noticed that it was considerably wider than the bucket up front. Not allowing me to clean up to the buildings, etc. So I can't imagine when doing loader work with the box blade on why I would want to deal with the extra width. The only reason to go wider is that I have a friend that sells implements and he said that he had a 60" BEFCO that he would sell me for what they have in it. Tough not being a smart shopper and getting the best deal. I will let you know what I end up doing. Thanks to all the posters, lots of good info here to help a person make an educated guess as to what will be the best for each individual.
