53K virus attack

This morning I had twenty six emails with 53K attachments from legitimate appearing sources. I've already picked up a new one while surfing TBN. Yesterday I bet I got in excess of fifty hits of the same stuff.

I know I can tick people off. But I believe it's something less personal. Anyone else getting attacked?

Same here. I have been hit hard for the last week myself. Probably closer to 100 times by now. It is all from a virus. Check your computer now and clean it up. I didn't think any of this stuff got thru, but some stuff did.

Last week I started getting lots of' bounced' email notices to places I never sent to. Mcaffee spyware, and norton virus , and my firewall software dind't pick up anything.. however I notice that the address used int he bounced messages is the email address I use at only 4 sites.. tractor sites.. TBN, YTMAG, and 2 yahoo sites. ( as most do, my email provider gives me multiple email adresses, so i use one for my tractor stuff.. so when i see replies to a certain address.. i know it is tractor related.. and not work or personal..e tc.. )

I'm guessing that at least one of these sites got 'farmed' and someones email address book got harvested, and is not spamming.. etc. The 'bounced' attacks stoppe dsome time over the weekend.. but for a couple days I was getting 30-40 of them.. etc.

I have 4 e-mail addresses that i use. All were getting hit and 2 are still getting hit. The other 2 have stopped. One is my road runner address that i never give out so i don't know how they got that.

I've had half dozen similar attacks over the past couple of days. My filter caught them. They all had the Worm.Sober.P attached and were from a fake address, service@aol.com

[W32.Sober.O@mm] is a mass-mailing worm that sends itself as an email attachment to addresses gathered from the compromised computer. It uses its own SMTP engine to spread. The email may be in either English or German.

Me too, at work. It got so bad that they disconnected my computer from the net and are going to reformat the hard drive today, while I'm off and at home. Guess it's good to know I'm not the only one with this problem, but it really torques my shorts that I have to spend time and money to defend myself from this *** every day I'm online. I'm almost to the point of saying to heck with it, it's not worth it anymore.....
