5105 fuel leak

The fuel sender on the bottom of the tank is leaking, has anyone here had this problem with their tractor? Looks like the electrical connector got clobbered by brush.

Yep, mine just started leaking a couple weeks ago. Just a drip now and then so far. Will probably get worse. Had the entire fuel line replaced last spring because it just kept cracking. Fixed it about 3 times before getting the entire line replaced. No shutoff on the fuel tank.

I looked the price up on Deere's website and the sender is $157.58 and the gasket is 3.74. The fuel lines on this tractor disintegrated after 2 years. I replaced them with some Gates heavy duty fuel hose and have had no more problems. I will go by the dealer tomorrow and order the sender, They are less than a mile from my house.

Thanks for the info. Going to fix mine also. Have put heavy inner tube rubber around the fuel line under the clutch to help protect it. May look at foam pipe insulation or something to protect the sender and the other wires hanging down near the sender.

I got the sender yesterday. I was surprised they had it in stock, but it may be a fairly common repair. I need to come up with some kind of skid plate or shield to protect that area. The wires for the emergency flashers and rear accessory outlet are right next to the sender connector and the protective spiral wrap looked kind of beat up. I'm hoping the gasket seals to the bottom of the tank. The screws look like they are probably sheet metal screws, but the gasket is pretty thick. I will try to remember to take pictures when I do the repair, hopefully this weekend when I am at the farm.
