5103 white smoke?

I am buying a 2007 5103 with 193 hours on it. When you start it up after it sets for a day or longer it puts out some (about 2 sec ) white smoke as it starts. Is this normal??? Should I run away and not buy? It would seem that with only 193 hrs it should not do this. The salesman stated that they all do it when started. He said that it has something to do with a delay switch or something?????

This is normal for these engines. It is due to emissions control. It is called cold start advance. It takes a couple of seconds for the fuel pressure to build high enough for the advance mechanism in the pump to activate. Then after the engine reaches a certain temperature, the advance backs off.

thanks, i have a cummins and when you see white smoke from a deisel and it aint 10degrees its a bad sign
