Based on what you have changed/checked so far, it sounds like the fuel lift pump might be weak or not functioning.

I have a 2011 JD 5083e and had the same issue(along with alot of others) initially they thought it was the injector pump, but it turned out to be the fuel lift pump

Just out of curiosity what other issues have you had? I have had a lot of problems with mine so far, wondering what else I have to look forward to?

The first day I had it I started experiencing hydraulic issues with the backhoe primarily, it went back to shop and spent the next month and a half there then the lift pump(salesman said I needed to add automatic transmission fluid) and now its in the shop because the PTO is shot. I am still paying the loan off and had to buy a extended warranty because of the unreliability, thank Jesus I did because i was told this PTO deal will between 4-5,000 dollars

So have same loss of power black smoke issue on 5095. two questions. I can't find the second check value on the parts diagram up by the 30 micron filter. Can you tell me which drawing to look at. Also the bleed procedure is just for the 30 micron filter. How do you bleed the water separator as that is silent in the maintenance manual. Do you use the same procedure as for the primary filter? I have changed the fuel filters and bleed per the manual. The primary is full of fuel, the water separator is not filling up with fuel. Thanks Rich

So I prime the tractor and get it running. It runs for a minute or two and quits. Then there is air in the 30 micron filter and has to be primed again. It will start and die out in a couple of minutes. Repeats that way as long as you want... So I am assuming there is a pin hole leak between the tank and the lift pump in the hose. Hard to believe the fuel lift pump is letting air in. So I'm going to bypass the hose between the fuel tank and water separator with a new one and see if the problem is fixed. The local dealer friend also said the fuel pump doesn't normally go bad with only 150 hours for this particular mode tractor and he believes it is hose related based on the symptoms. Will update with results later. Rich

I have replaced the fuel lines from the tank to the water separator. I also replaced the check value on the top of the tank when I replaced the fuel lines. Same issue surging, loosing power, and stalling out after about 1 minutes. Replace the lift pump. Still no improvement. Not sure what I'm doing next. I guess I will be studying injectors and inector pump to see if I can figure out where to look next. SUGGESTIONS appreciated. Thanks RIch

Possible that air is leaking in at fuel filter/water separator? Have seen similar prob caused by cracked filter bowl -- air leaked in but fuel did not leak out.

Be sure the oring is in place between the glass bowl and the primary filter. It could be sucking in air around there if the oring is missing. Many times when switching the bowl from the old filter, the oring will stick to the old filter and if you don't notice it, it will cause problems.

I found the problem, a fuel restriction coming out of the fuel tank. Changed all the lines and didn't check the tank when I had it drained the first time. Logic fell out the window that day. So in the interim, the tractor owner had a different friend come over and look and he loosened up all the injector and fuel injector lines to bleed them. Not sure what he did, but after I cleaned out the fuel restrictions, within a few minutes of running normally, one of the injector o-rings is suddenly bulging and there is a nice engine knock, probably from a leak at the injector. Is there any special tools for the 5095 to remove the injector and put in a new o-ring and washer. Or do I just remove the clamp, pull the injector, install new ring and washer, and re-tighten the injector clamp. I can't seem to find a maintenance manual to purchase online or on the JD site? My first thought is to replace the o-ring and washer, and would like any insight from someone who knows what to expect. Thanks again. Rich
