To pull the codes, shut the tractor down and then turn the key to the run position, press and hold the switch that toggles the display for a couple seconds, it will then show you the error codes that is stored.

OP has a 2009 5085M no fancy scroll mode yet FIY.

Also, Orig. Poster where are you getting your diesel from?

Bulk, Gas Station

Stored in? Bulk tank, 5 Gallon Tanks, etc etc.

If you got a bulk tank, change the filter on it if it has one.

So... are the codes a series of beeps? (That's what my JD110 has...) The owner's manual has a list of codes at the back which details (somewhat) the problem. Sounds like a problem with air flow. But, that should be evident at the air restrictor indicator on the air cleaner body - in the "red" zone.

Sticky injectors can give you a rough idle and puffs of black smoke, etc. but I've never heard of only 1-2 injectors causing the tractor to drag down to a near stall or stop. And, I've not heard of "all" the injectors sticking at the same time.

No on my old 2010 5085M it was only flashing at the same speed. So you would have no idea what it means.

Especially if your doing hay, the small fibers of hay can easily clog the radiator and get the air filter quite dusty.

Personal experience, also loading poultry litter does the same thing and can bring the coolant levels into the red zone when disking.

Ah, sorry about that didn't know that was a feature of newer machines.

And if it doesn't have one then install one, saved my butt a couple times seeing what was filtered out of my fuel after being stored for a while.

There's no such option.

Hi. I had a similar issue with my 2009 5085m. Changing both the 30 & 10 micron fuel filters did not help. Finally drop the fuel tanks and replaced the fuel lines. I noticed that the main tank had shifted slightly and was pitching the fuel line that went up along the tank. Now do you think that solved the issue...... No

As I studied the issue a little more I discovered that I had not 1 but 2 check valves. One was located on the line next to the tank and the other right before the 30 micron filter.

I decided to change the fuel line routing so that it when over the drive shaft and the along the frame rain next to the mid selective control valve and pass the starter and to the filter. I removed both check valves to reduce constriction. This resolved the power loss issue once and for all

:)

Thanks, thats some good info! I will look into the check valves.

Reviving an old thread here as I have been searching for issues I am having with a 5095M that pretty much match what Hogdaddy was having. Also like him, the first time I noticed the problem was driving down the road pulling a baler and RPMs dropped like a rock going up a small hill. Since then have had large RPM drops under load. I have replaced both fuel filters, dropped and flushed the tank (which was fairly clean) and based on Ernram's suggestion above, even ran a new fuel line yesterday without the 2 check valves which I also had. Ran the 15 ft cutter this afternoon though and still having RPM drops that acts like a problem with the governor. I've been cutting some fairly heavy stuff so running about 2200 RPM with no load and it settles down to around 2100 when cutting. But if I hit a heavier spot and drop the RPMs down close to 2000, then they will keep dropping fast. Not really consistent either as I have seen it drop down and power on through it but probably 80% of the time, the RPMs just keep on dropping. Really noticeable trying to run a disk mower in economy PTO mode. With the lower RPM of E-PTO, the least little load would make it drop down. Hopefully someone else has had the same issue and been able to find a solution. I hope it's not the injection pump but right now that is my only guess. Thanks.

You might want to check the injectors to make sure they are not messed up. Also, I guess the turbo's are functioning correctly?

Sounds like a fuel problem, but it might be worth checking your turbo. I had my E in for a noise last year and they found the turbo compressor wheel hitting the housing. Probably not your problem as I just had slightly lower power at all times but easy to check and rule out.
