I read on another post that one of the differences between the 5 series E and M is the presence of a frame. The post states that the M has a frame for torsional stresses.

My question lies in the application for this frame. Is this just a design carryover from the 6 and 7 series tractors? Is the E series stable enough for heavy-duty woods work, such as harrowing firebreaks and cutting brush? I'll be fabricating a forestry cage to protect the machine.

I don't need the hydraulic addons of the M series because they will just break off or result in higher maintenance costs. Do I still need the M for a stronger machine?

One more question: does the 5510 have a similar frame?

The 5e series is a machine more suited for hobby farmers. The 5m is getting more serious and is the better fit for loader work.
The way I understand your post, you plan to get rough on the machine. If so, I'd go the M-way.

I don't own either, so this is just what my previous hay guy told me. He bought a 5085E open cab 4x4 tractor for loading round bales onto his customers trailers. Everything else that he owns is a M model. He bails thousands of round bales a year and if I remember correctly, he has 4 M series tractors. He hates the E series, but said it was cheap and in stock. He also said that he would never buy another E series tractor because it's had more issues than all his other tractors combined. To me, it looked brand new. All shiny and clean looking. But he said that it's been broke down so much that he rarely gets to use it. He also said that Deere has been very good at fixing it and having parts on hand.

That was 2 years ago. Last year he ran out of hay before I could buy from him due to the army ants causing so much damage. This year I've found another guy that has a 5055E open cab 4x4 to load bales that barely gets the job done. It could use a little more power and weight. He just bout a 75 hp cabbed 4x4 New Holland to replace it, but the last time I was there, the NH had a flat and he was still using the Deere to load. It's a bare bones tractor that he let me try out one time, and I didn't care for it. Too jerky on the controls and throttle for me to get comfortable on it in a short amount of time. I'm looking forward to trying out the NH. It's a lot more money, but looks really nice.

I致e owned 2 . 2010 5093e cab ,4wd , fel... loaded tires... , 2018 5065e open station, 4wd, loaded tires.... I had lots of trouble with the 5065e... the 5093e was ok ... but both overrated in my opinion. Not heavy enough, not enough power . I bought both to mow filth ( heavy) forget it! I went to a M series. A lot more tractor... lot more $$$. But to be honest I知 not overly impressed with it either... it痴 a 5115 m cab, 4wd, fel , loaded tires and 3 weights each rear wheel. The kinda ground I work is steep , rough, heavy filth... It does the job but could be better... I wouldn稚 buy another ... just my . O2 CT痴. Good luck..
