5010 Gear Cab

Its getting close.
What's the good bad and or ugly on a 5010 Gear Cab?
The final choices are it a 1742 Massey and NX4510 Gear cab.
I am so skeptic of the tier 4 engines and realize the time is short on tier 3 units out there. I figure this will be the last "new" tractor that I will be buying so the choice in important.

The bad is also a good....it has a short wheelbase for a tractor with such a powerful loader. That makes it turn tight, but also makes the backend light with a load as the fulcrum point is further rearward giving the loader lots of leverage to lift the back of the tractor. So put Rim Guard in the tires and/or put some weight on the back when using the loader. The other issue is the transmission choice, it is a simple gears trans. Not as handy as an HST, yet pretty bulletproof. Tier III is good. Some of the early production 5010 gear cabs did not warm up well in cold weather, but that was solved some time back by some changes in the thermostat bypass system. All in all, a good machine and priced very well.

Well then, I better not try to sell you the last 5010 gear cab I have in stock, it would be a long drive across the USA, even with the cab and AC and the stereo playing!
