Went and got everything today for the 50 hr service and when I told the guy to give me SUDT at the service desk, he said that i did not have a need to change the hydro fluid until 150 hours as that is what they do at the shop and they are one of the largest Kubota dealers in the US. I have read here on the forum to change it at the 50 hr service mark. So should I change it or not? He said If I used it hard every day then maybe i could but since I have had it over a year and only have 50 hrs on it, I should not worry about it.

If memory serves me the B3030Cab, only takes 4.1 gallons total with both filters changed. If you change only the filters you will lose about 1+/-gallons. So the bottom line is.
Save 3 gallons of SUDT...$49.80+tx
Paid $20K for tractor.
Manual states to change at 50hrs.

After you pull your filters and see all those little pieces of metal attached, you will probably agree with me.

CHANGE THE FLUIDS!

Thanks for the input, I agree, what is another 100 dollars for filters and fluids on a $20,000 machine? Better safe than sorry. Not to mention the warm fuzzy feeling from changing it rather than that nagging doubt I would feel everytime I use it.... Change the fluids it is.....

I am getting close to my 50 hours. Quick hydro question, is there a metal screen anywhere like I had on my BX?

I would definitely suggest changing the fluid! I changed mine on my GR2100 at 50 and 175 hours. I was very surprised at the amount of metal and junk in the strainer & fluid at the 50 hour change. Called Kubota and they were not concerned. Same amount of crap at 175 hours.

Then the HST failed at 203 hours .... imagine that. Luckly it failed with about a week of going out of warranty... Yes there is a tractor God.

Although in my case changing the fluid & filter would not have made a difference in the long run (as my unit was doomed from the start... changeing the fluid probably only extended the life some amount of TBD hours) in a healthy machine it cannot hurt to buy what I consider cheap insurance (filters/fluid).

AMR-Funny,I was just going to post the same question myself. I'm also nearing the 50 hour service on my B3030HSDC. I had two of those strainers on my B1750. The owners manual doesn't say anything about a screen, but I was reading the Messicks how-to-service page on the B7800 and they showed a screen. Since the 7800 and 3030 are similar machines,it got me wondering. Thanks

Change your fluid and filters! Get all the little metal peices from manufacturing out of there. With good maintenance the 3030 should give you many years of service.

If you read the maintainence chart...Kubota Tractor USA - Quick Reference Schedule
You will notice it specifically states that at 50 hrs you CHANGE tranny fluid and you "clean" ( ??) the tranny filter. How one "cleans" a spin on filter escapes me?? but I changed BOTH of the hyd filters on my own at the 50 hr mark

My B7800 has the small screen that filters the filings. I had my hydro oil changed when I had my 50 hour service done and there were only a few tiny metal fragments on the screen.

I'd think a 3030 hs that same tubular screen in the hydro plug.

Although this is my first tractor, all of my lawn tractors, vehicles, and atvs. I am a big believer in preventive maintenace.

I changed my oil & fuel filter and front axle @ 50 hrs on my B3030 HSDC. I did my first full hydro change @ 140 hrs. I change oil every 50, fuel filter every 50,air filter as needed, coolant every 200, hydro every 300.

Sorry to revive this OLD thread, but I am in the process of doing my 50 hour service on my B3030 right now.

The 2 trans filters have different part numbers, and are slightly different "sizes" (looks like length is only difference). My parts guy at the local dealer labeled one of them as the HST filter. However I don't know which one is which as far as where they go on the tractor!

The only thing I can think to do at this point is match the size of the ones I am taking off the tractor. The one on the right side is oriented front to back (the axis of the filter aligns with the longitudinal axis of the tractor) and is attached to a fitting with a tube coming out of it and going to what looks like a pump beside the engine. The other filter screws into the side of the transmission case on the LEFT side of the tractor with a cast-in fitting location similar to what you see on an engine block.

If I match the SIZES of the filters, the one that screws in on the LEFT side, going directly into the transmission CASE is the one he labeled "HST" and is part number 66021-36060 (it is blue). The one that matches the one of the right side of the tractor is part HH670-37710 and is grey in color and a bit longer.

Can anyone help me?!?!?!?!?!

Thanks,
Steve

stimpee:

you've got it right. 36060 is the 'transmission' filter - shorter, left side.

37710 is the rest of the hydraulic system - longer, right side.

Thanks a bunch!

I was out in the barn lubing up the o-rings on the filters to install them as outlined when I received your reply on my Blackberry! Nothing better than being a redneck with technology at my fingertips!

Got everything finished except the front axle fluid change. Not looking forward to that, since I think the only decent way to do it "cleanly" is going to involve removing the wheels so the fluid doesnt drool all over the wheels/tires.

Thanks!!

Steve

While making a delivery out here the dealer service truck stopped by the ranch to change my fuel filter, Hydraulic fluid/three hydraulic filters.

I had 46 hours on the clock.

While I wasn't too enthused about a major service at only 50 hours, I noticed the three new M59 spin on hydraulic filters come with three ring magnets that seat on the filter's head. Pretty good idea since the old hydraulic filters' magnet rings were coated with metal shavings.

I stopped complaining.
