Kubota L5240: Craftsman GT6500
New Kubota with factory 3rd valve and WR Long 4n1 bucket.......16 hours on machine with no use of 4n1 (bush hogging now) except to open bucket to make everything fit on trailer. Upper section (part with the teeth) will leak down about 90 degrees in 24 hours. Is hydraulic leak down normal or does this mean something is broke???

My opinion and only an opinion, nothing to worry about. if it starts leaking down in minutes or is a hindrance while working, then is when I would do something about it. Until then, enjoy your new tractor, it sure does look nice.:)

I bought my WR Long 4 n 1 bucket last summer for my then new 4330 Kubota. No problems with leak down but then I usually drop the bucket off on the pallet storage rack, leaving my choice open for the next time out (pallet forks). Why not call WR Long and ask for Nelson. A fine fellow and I believe the engineer on the bucket. BTW, they have made this bucket, with little or no change for about 18-20 years as I recall from a conversation with them. Their number is toll free off their website. Congratulations on the new tractor!

take care,
Bill

A leak like that usually points towards the tractor's valve rather than the bucket cylinders themselves. I would guess that if you put a grapple on the loader instead of the 4-in-1, it would do the same thing.

Don't worry, that amount of leakage in that amount of time does not sound excessive. Mention it to your dealer to see what they say.

My loader leaked down at a rate 1 1/2"-2" per hour with the engine shut off. My loader troubleshooting guide indicated an internal leak in the loader valve. Mine was still under warranty and the dealer replaced the loader valve. I was told by the dealer that some leakdown is normal but over 1 1/2" an hour was excessive. Even with the new loader valve the loader still leaks down but now its about an inch per 5-6 hours.
