I just got to remove the 48 hoe off my 4410 for the first time last evening. I had an issue getting the 3pt to raise the hoe to be able to pull the L pins. When they dropped the 4410 off last week the service person suggested pressing down on the 3pt arms and then trying to lift the hoe to get the pins out.

I could not press down on the 3pt arms. There was an alligator clip fasten to the hoe frame that seemed to be getting in the way of the 3pt arms. It looked like the clip seemed out of place. I looked in the manual and it was shown in the assembly of the hoe but it purpose was not discussed. It almost looks like the clip keeps the 3pt arms from dropping after you have the hoe mounted? I removed the clip and the hoe came right off.

Going to call Dealer about this clip. Wondering if others have run into this? I know the service person said he spent some time adjusting a 3pt rod so it would lift the hoe enough to remove the pins. One hose of the power beyond is a bit of a bear to get on and off. Little room to work in that area under the hoe seat. Hoe works very well and is easy to take off and on other than these two issues.

Craig, I'm not really sure of the clips your talking about /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and I can't go out to look since my tractor is about 3 hours away. I will be with it this coming weekend so I will look.
The only problem I had taking the BH off for the first time was the adjustment of the bracket to lift the BH assembly high enough to clear the "Hooks"... I don't remember any clips being in the way! Your right about that one hose under the seat... very little room! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You will get better... Your fingers learn new tricks, and it gets easier!

Craig, your unit is clearly defective. I will give you $500 for it, just to get it off your hands /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have attached a pic of the clamp in question from the JD parts site. It is labeled item 10 in the pic and has a part number of M138078. It is shown in the assembly section of the 48 manual but not discussed.

I wondered myself what that clip was for. I took it off of mine. I have used that hoe probably 200-300 hours over the last couple years and never had a problem.

Take the clamp off, its usless, The one use that i found for it is to get a set of three and use them to clamp a trash bag to the trash can at camp. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I beleave the clip serves to push the 3PH hitch arms down just enough to clear the hooks in the BH after the weight has been taken off the 3PH (when the BH makes contack with the ground when removing it). Without it you will have to push the arms down yourself.
