Backhoe 47 backhoe

I have a JD4200 w/47 backhoe and 420 loader and noticed yesterday when using the backhoe that the stabilizers kept leaking down. Every couple minutes I had to push the levers down to raise the back wheels back up off the ground. Also, I raised the front wheels with the bucket and they would be back on the ground when I went to move the tractor. I was running about 1600-1800 RPM's. Is this normal? There are 20 hrs on the clock. Thanks for any and all replies.

Unfortunately, what you described is not supposed to happen. The same symptoms happened to my JD4300 with a 48 backhoe when I had 16 hours on it. The FEL would not hold the front wheels up for more than 10 seconds. It turned out to be a bad hydraulic valve inside the tractor. Fixed it under warrantee. I now have over 50 hours and haven't had any other problems.
ps. I assume you have checked all hoses and connections to ensure that you aren't leaking fluid and pressure out somewhere ??

Yes, I,ve looked all over the thing, no leaks. How big of a job was it for them to repair the valve?

Oh yeah.....does that valve they replaced have a name in case I have to give my dealer a "suggestion" on where to start.

I can't remember what the valve was called, but it was 4-6 hour job. After he looked at my tractor for about 30 seconds, he new what the problem was. So, I think this is probably an easy problem for the dealer to diagnos.
He stated changing the valve was tough enough that he wanted to bring it back to his shop to do it. He covered the parts and labor under warrantee and did not charge me to pick the tractor up or return it.
