4600- injector pump

My brother has a 4600 with over 8000 hours on it. Oil leaking from injector pump filling the fuel shutoff solenoid. Obviously a seal leaking in the injector pump. Based on research of other posts, it appears that a rebuild is necessary. Is this a quick/inexpensive repair? Any advice?

This is not a inexpensive or a DIY repair. IP's have critically small tolerances and develop a incredible amount of pressure.

Have him ask his dealer who they outsource to for rebuilds, or call local diesel repair shops to get an estimate.

Thanks Kennyd!!! Talked to a mechanic at local JD dealer. He told me that they ship theirs out to be re-built as well. $600 to fix and another $400(High end) to put back together and get it timed properly. Not what we want to do...but no other choice. Putting it backtogether and gettin it timed properly appears to be the difficult part.
