hello everone , new here but have been lurking awile.
can some one tell me if 29700 is a good price for a new 4520 with 400x loader? im fixing to trade up from my 2520 and im trying to get some ideas on a fair deal. thanks

That would depend on what options were selected with the tractor. For the base open station tractor and 400X loader the list is about 34,000 less a 17% discount would bring it down to about 28,500. So alot would depend on what options you selected or are included in the deal.

A 2520 to a 4520 is a heck of a jump!

Joey is half Chow and half Husky. I found him on the internet, he was in charm school for 3 1/2 years prior to my finding him. Drove 1050 miles to go get him, one of the most worthwhile trips I have ever made.

Here are some larger pictures of him at a local lake.

Take my advise. Spend the extra coin and get the 4520 with the cab. I have had the open 4520 for 4 years and kick my self all the time for not getting the cab.. That is why I am now trading for the cab model. Either way you go the 4520 is a great tractor and never let me down. Good luck with your new purchase.

thats a beutiful dog .
yeah its a big jump i demoed one back in march and realized that it was what i needed . i have approx a 1 acre garden every year and pulling a 2 bottom plow with my 3000 ford with no ps is a chore to say the least. the 4520 pulled the plow with no trouble and of course does every thing else i need to do way better than the 2520 and the 3000 ford . i was leary of the hydro doing ground engagement work but it done fine .

oh how much does the cab add ?? not really wonting one just wondering . i love the open air down here in the south.

Thanks for the comment about Joey.

You may want to go to Deere.com and select build and price to get a breakdown on options and their costs. I think somewhere between 15 and 20% off of msrp is about right.

You said what I was gonna say. Yep that is big jump up in tractor. Speaking of jump up. Since i traded my 4100 in years back, I have not been up close to one in a long time. Well I had an opportunity to see one recently and I was kinda stunned at how small it looked. I really forgot.

well so far ive got the dealer down to 29200 for the tractor and loader with tooth bar . he,s gonna give whats owed on my tractor and give 3000 on another tractor that i own but never use its a 75 model ford 3000 with no ps no brakes.

Is this a base tractor or is it optioned out and if it is optioned what is included?

How is your tractor configured that is being traded?

So far we don't have much information to go by.

its a 2520 with a loader and a extra bucket with tooth bar . also has a 62d mower and a back hoe . the 4520 is a base tractor with a loader and tooth bar

I think 28,000 to 28,600 is a good price for the new tractor 400X and toothbar. So your not off that much. The $3000 for the Ford is fair considering it is in rough shape and will need repairs to make it saleable.

The question would be how do you feel about the 2520 being a wash? Without getting personal do you feel you are coming out with it fair enough?

on the 2520 being a wash yes im ok with it and no im not . if that makes since.
i would like to have gotten more for it but then ive only owned it for 2 yrs so what can you expect . im really more upset that i didnt buy the 4520 in the first place. for what i paid for the 2520 and all the stuff i could have gotten alot more tractor. my advice would be to anyone thinking of a small tractor think long and hard about what you will be doing with it . then go up atleast 2 or 3 sizes from that . dont get me wrong i loved my 2520 and it has done a ton of work to be no bigger than it is . but it was basically always just a little bit to small . it was just enough to make you wont something bigger if you no what i mean . if i had got a 3000 series to start with i would have been fine . thats why im going to the 4520 because its as bigg as i could ever possibly need .

That is why I have a 4520, it is big enough to get some work done, still small enough to trailer and work in landscape jobs. This is my 19th tractor and it is perfect for what I do, after using it for awhile I am satisfied I made a good choice. The same holds true for my 110 tlb as it can share the same implements but is still easy to trailer behind my pickup and service trucks.

I would though strongly recomend that you buy a 4520 cab tractor and not an open station. This could be your next regret, swapping or adding a cab would be costly down the road. I would also buy a good telescopic pole saw to trim limbs with too. If necessary I would use what I have, save the extra coins and then get the 4520 cab with upgrades. Then plan on keeping it for a long time.

If you use the JD website "Build your own", it's around $8K. 'Course the dealer should discount that by 15%-20% - IMO.

The plant is in Georgia for the 4000 series tractors. And it there is ONE place in the country where you can work a good deal on a new JD tractor - it's in the SOUTH!

Best of luck.

Best I can recall with 6 70# front weights, 6 110# rear weights, upgraded cruise and loadmatch, R4 tires, rear wiper, rear work lights, telescopic links, third remote, block heater, e hydro with economy pto and front grill guard for $34,000 +sales tax. Also bought a new tiller, field cultivator and rock rake at additional cost. I worried and agonized over whether to get the cab but after having a cab on the backhoe I knew I wanted it. It is best to make sure you are satisfied and happy with a new purchase and so far it was a smart move.
