Axle Shaft removal!

Hello everyone!

First things firt merry christmas!

So the issue im having is on my ford 5555 4wd! i cannot remove the axle shaft from the axle no matter how hard i try! i have removed the locking bolt and was hoping someone has a way or experienced somethign similar and can give me some advice! ill attatch some diagrams and some pages from the manual so you can see what im dealing with! As you can see ther was a specialised tool for it but its no longer obtainable! Also some people have said i ned to remove the snap ring first but looking at what i have and the diagrams thats seem impossible and it does not mention rmeoving the ring in the manual! Also the axle is a carraro 184ae3 i believe! Thanks

The special tool is just a slide hammer adapter to fasten to the driveshaft to allow a slide hammer to drive the shaft out. You can try to fashion an adapter for a slide hammer like that.
Have you tried prying the axle out at the center joint on the cardan joint? By the way, the snap ring holds the bearing on the shaft on the inside. You're right, you can't get to it.
Penetrant through the set screw hole, a little heat on the axle tube and the axle shaft will help loosen it up.

You may have to make your own adapter for a slide hammer. It seems that the one pictured slid over the splines of the axle end and set screws tighten down on the reduced diameter of the axle. Could even put a split sleeve on that reduced section to protect the axle.

Thanks all! i tried so many methods includng the ones mentioned above adn it would not budge! in the end i managed to remoe the yoke and then used carbide burrs to make a hold in the bearing and pull the balls out! it worked but it was a long process
