I haver a JD 4520 with 200hrs on it. When I fill the tank the gauge reads full. After 20 minutes of operation it either reads empty or very erratic. I am thinking the fuel sensor is going bad. Any thoughts? How tuff is a fuel sensor to replace?

My 5520 did the same thing .. Loose wire on the fuel sensor .. In my case there was a trap door in the floor of the cab under the floor mat .. Removed four bolts and easy access to the sending unit .. I was doing experimental surgery thinking of replacing the unit .. When I went to loosen a nut ... It was loose so I tightened in down and no problems since .. May or may not be your case ... May be worth checking

Thanks for the reply I guess I forgot to mention mine is an open air machine. I will look and see if I can get to the wiring.
