Check the air filter. I am not a mechanic and I don't pretend to be one. I have heard that diesel engines need lots of clean air to run well.
Why does the previous poster ask about "sandy conditions."??...When I read that I thought air filter.

If the air filter/intake system gets compromised and conditions are sandy/dusty it doesn't take long to ruin an engine. Check the air filter for leaks and cleanliness.
Could also be from a severely overheated engine. Could also be a mfg defect. Need to know more. Where did poster go?

blue or white smoke coming from a diesel can only mean 1 thing unless theres something im missing.youve got a blown motor.pull your oil stick an see if theres water in the oil.if so it could be over full but im not sure.but you can drain the oil an see if water is in it.if so its got a cracked block.an time for a complete overhaul.

+1 About 10-15 minutes will do it in, if that much.
A little more info and history would help. How long have you had the tractor did this smoke problem just start etc.....
