I was looking at the specs and it seems that the 45 and 50 are **** near the same weight. Whats the big deal about going ahead and getting the extra 5hp?

Can anyone tell me what the advantage would be with settling for the 40 or 45 opposed to the 50 which weighs only 40 pounds ( according to my local dealer ) differnt.

I would need a front end loader on it. I have a landscape construction business.

If you are going to be doing some heavy pulling and the cost of the extra HP would be a benefit to you, then the 50 might be the better choice. Eveything else in tractor is the same other than engine HP.

I think for landscape work you would have a very hard time finding any difference between the three. Even mine has more power than traction in low range. If I recall correctly, the 45 is the most fuel efficient by ~5%, somewhere on here is the fuel consumption graphs for all three. But over 2000hrs the 45 wouldn't really pay for itself over the 40. I'd think getting the HST is more important than the HP ratings.

You will have about 10% more power for the occasional job that needs it, like lifting a big rock. When you don't need it, it will cost you a tiny bit more in fuel as the motor is bigger and has bigger friction losses. Trailering will be the same as the weights are nearly the same.

My preference is to get the most power allowed by my other constraints (mainly towing capacity).

I had the DK- 35 and found the lift capacity of the loader was inadequate for my needs, mostly landscaping use. I traded up to the 40 and have not yet found any issue with this model; especially since it has 4 instead of three cylinders. If you are going to be using equipment that could run near max PTO HP then the 40-50 HP issue might come into play, otherwise the 'sweet spot' of the Kioti line is considered the 40 - for most users. Beware the warranty is limited by commercial use- so read the fine print thoroughly. I saw today on the Kioti site they are offering a 5 year warranty on some models now - not sure which.
See my attachment list for type of uses I engage in.

Towing was my biggest issue when I was looking at the 3 hp models....

looks like the KL 451 loader is the one to get? I don't know if you have a choice between the KL 401 on the 40-50hp

The DK40-45-50 are the same with the exception of the cylinder size to my knowledge. It is basically the same engine, but bored out to gain the extra hp I think.

If you get a cab, get the 45. If you are going to run PTO attachments that require a lot of hp, then get the 50. Otherwise get the 40.

Just my :2cents:
