Just going online to see if anyone can help me. I was in the middle of blowing snow when my knee hit the key which turned off the tractor. No big deal it happens all the time but this time it won't start. I should say, it won't allow it to turn over. Everything lights up in the dash but when I turn the key to start, nothing. At first the tractor was stuck in M range but depressing the brake allowed me to get it out. I was experimenting with the cruise control at the time and no matter where I switch it's toggle to it remains lit up in the dash. Also, normally there is an indicator in the dash of where you are in your range settings (H,M,L,N) but they're all lit up now.

I know some safety override is not allowing the tractor to start. I suspect it has something to do with the cruise (?). Help.

Is the pto still engaged? There may be a safety switch.

Yes the PTO is off.

Clutch safety switch, most likely. That is the only safety
switch my CK30 has, I am fairly sure. If you are pushing it
and no dice, maybe dirt in the contact? I dont know if the
new CK has other safeties. Gonna ask at the show next week.

It's HST. Does it have a safety clutch switch?

My CK30HST does. It's about a two year old model. Maybe snow in the switch somehow?

Where is the switch?

Looking in my workshop manual, the diagram indicates that the safety switch is located directly behind the clutch pedal above the floor. It is not beneath the floor as I thought it might have been so it would be improbable that snow somehow was packed in there creating a problem. Sorry for misguiding you on that.

When the clutch pedal is depressed it engages the safety switch allowing the engine to crank. So if the key turns all the way, the panel lights up and yet the engine will not crank it would seem that it has to be in that circuit someplace. I also know that there is a relay that clicks when I start mine, hopefully someone else here knows how that interface works.

trying to remember from service school, but the dk45 hst doesn't have a clutch so no switch. Might try disconnecting the battery for a bit.... the new hst's have a brain box.... we haven't got our load in yet so i haven't been able to play with one... :(

Make sure the ranger selector is in the neutral position.

Barj, you said you snuffed it while moving, and needed the brake pedal to help you get it out of gear. Is there any way you can move it backwards or forward a bit? Even though the shifter is in neutral is the tractor?

Wallace is correct. The machine will not start if the range selector is in geer. It has to be in neutral.

Are you up and running yet?

If the new DK45HST has no clutch and must be in N to start, I sure
hope it shifts ranges a lot easier than my CKs.

Ok. Thanks everyone for your help. Everything you've suggested I tried earlier but to no avail. Fortunately the dealer that sold it to me, Maxwell Farm Service, have been awesome every step of the way and sent over a couple of techs. I think in the end the answer was to disconnect all power and start over. I worked that tractor hard today. As I've mentioned before, we have a laneway over 1 k long and with nearly a meter of new snow this week..... I've sent a picture (no, the whole laneway wasn't that deep). Unfortunately when it stalled it was stuck in a tunnel 4 feet high by 20 feet long 9sorry no pictures). Not a easy space tp work in. Thanks again all.

Its possible you have a ground wire not grounding proper, Check the Battery Ground First.
