NH Ford 445C loader backhoe Just pops into neutral whether in forward or reverse. I shift F-N-R or R-N-F and it stays in gear for a short irregular non specified time. Does anyone else have this experience or any idea before I get into it? Thank you

Fred, assuming that you're talking about the shuttle here, and not the actual transmission gearshift. Check the current that your shift solenoids are drawing. If you have an overload current set in the controllers and it's exceeding that, the controllers could be cutting the output power. This could be due to solenoid troubles or possibly a rubbed through wire somewhere, etc. Electrical problems can be a real pain on older machines. I'm not sure if there are any other circuits that would cut power to the solenoids like a trans temp switch or similar. Perhaps @Tractor Tech could chime in on that.

If the controllers are still providing power to the solenoids and the machine still won't move, time to investigate shifting/transmission pressures. May possibly be a clogged inlet screen or similar if that's the case.
