Hmm, I'm learning. It appears that both coils are to open fuel supply. (Takes both to overcome the spring, but only one to maintain open.) They're both opening and (probably) one lets loose after 3 seconds but the one that stays energized is shutting off after 9 seconds. The fuel timer module feeds the engine run relay which is what energizes to get power to that hold open fuel solenoid. So either that module or relay is heating up and going bad or the computer's telling something to shutdown. **** computers anyway.

You should be able to take off the fuel solenoid and just turn the key to the run position and you should be able to see the plunger depress and hold from my understanding. Disconnect the lead and run a test light to the leads and be certain your getting power to both of them. One should have continuous power to it in the run position. If after 9 seconds and the plunger closes again you either no you have a temporary short possibly from a relay or the solenoid is cutting out.

I don't believe the tractor has to be running for the solenoid to open because as soon as I turn the key on my 4310 to the run position I can usually hear the fuel solenoid click open.

I'm with you on the computer garbage. While I love my 4310 it was completely over engineered with redundant safety circuits.

I thought I'd be able to both feel and hear the fuel solenoid actuate but can't. I'm presuming it's plunger's is opening and then closing after 9 seconds though since the tractor runs fine for 9 seconds.

Not positive, but I think the timer only comes into play is when the key is shut off, it times out and releases the solenoid to prevent battery drain.

Go to the fuse panel and try switching out the relay in slot K3 with another one in there. Thats the pull in relay for the fuel shutoff solenoid. It could be starting to wear out on you.

Does it have low oil run down protection? Generators with this feature will shut down automatically. Not sure if they would do this on a tractor

Swapped out relays but still quits pumping fuel at 9 seconds....always 9 seconds. $38 bucks for a new timer module. If it isn't that.........? If the computer's shutting things down because it didn't like a sensors readings wouldn't I see a code?

It wouldn't surprise me if there's shutdown with low/no oil pressure, but the oils full, and I'm trusting the gauge for good pressure.

If the oil light shuts off in that time its probably not the issue. My 1995 saturn has two coolant temp sensors one for the gauge one for the ecm. Ecm one started going faulty. No codes but caused hard starts because it randomly thought it was -40° and was attempting to flood the engine with fuel. Sensors with erroneous data do not always show faults unfortunately. OEM's have to make sure their diagnostics can detect stuck sensors using plausibility faults in the event a sensor is on its way out still providing what appears to be valid data but couldnt or shouldnt happen

I'm thinking possibly oil pressure too? Is there a sending unit?
