The title pretty much says it all, and it's a pretty consistent 9 sec runtime before shutoff. It doesn't stumble off it just quits...like electrical. I had initially thought starving for fuel so replaced the fuel filter. Filter was kinda clogged but new didn't change a thing. The seat and transmission neutral switches are bypassed. Maybe some sensor must be shutting the fuel off?

It's the e-power-reverser model. Everything but key is "off/neutral".... PTO, Shifter, forward/reverse, motionmatch, lights, mfwd, and clutch out. Doesn't matter if on or off seat.

Next thing I would check is the fuel shutoff solenoid. I believe it has 3 wires to it. Two hots and one ground. One lead is to open the solenoid and the other is to hold it open. The holding lead might have a poor connection and is dropping voltage causing the tractor to stall out.

It might be worth opening the connector cleaning it a little and putting some dielectric grease on the terminals.

Do a search on the forum for term "thermistor", It's a $3 part that will keep the one coil in the fuel solenoid from pulling in.

The shutoff solenoid "seems" OK. Is there a way to check the timer relay?

Tried a search for thermistor and only got the above post. What's the thermistor thing all about?

Did find an odd thing. During that 9 seconds the secondary hydraulics work but the tractor won't move.

238 results using the google search in the upper right corner, I hope this link works:

Search Results | Compact tractor forums, news, reviews, information.

But now that I think about it more the 4x10 series did not have them, only the 4x00 series did.

I don't know where the timer is, but you may want to invest in the tech manual, they are under $100 and will have all the wiring schematics and theory of operations for each system.

Is it throwing an error code at all. When mine does not want to move all I usually have to do is put the Fwd/Rev selector back in the N pos. and it will reset and good to go if I'm getting the blinking lights.

Have you checked the air intake system? Possibly could be something blocking it. Just take off the filter intake, check the filters. Do not check any pipes to the filter for such as mice nest or plastic bag. Diesels really need strong air intake. Restricted air intakes also can cause them to run hot.

That's interesting and good to know. Thanks.

If you want a simple test to help know if it is getting fuel, take spray bottle of WD 40 and as it begins to cut off shoot short burst into the air intake, best if filter is off. If it keeps it running then is has loss fuel. Also do not over look simple trash floating in the fuel tank as just the level the fuel it being quickly and dependable pulled over the fuel outlet. Simple to test that with adding more fuel to tank if a float piece of trash should raise it.

I'm getting no codes. Just changed all fluids and filters a couple months ago. Just changed the fuel filter though and before I put it back in visually made sure the mechanical pump was putting out. I took an injector line off and the fuel is shutting off right when it quits.

I'm confused on the fuel shutoff solenoid. There are 2 coils in it. Is one fuel off and one fuel on or do they both open the supply. I know one works because the tractor runs for 9 seconds. But is the second coil shutting off the supply or is it not engaging to keep the supply open?
