Hello. I was talking with a dealer today about getting a quote on a 4410. I knew most of the options I want, including a 430 loader. But then he asked which bucket, a 61" or a 73". I don't really know. Any pros or cons? Either one a better fit for this size tractor? Do both come in HD versions? I like the idea of the larger bucket for moving material, such as mulch, but I don't want it to be too big for other tasks.

Any opinions appreciated.

Personally I'd go for the bigger bucket. The only advantage that I can think of for the smaller bucker is a better ability to dig in hard ground. In that case, though, a toothbar will probably make a bigger difference. I have a 72" bucket on my TC35 (roughly equivalent to your 4410) no regrets here.

I have a JD 4300. When I purchased, I was faced with the same decision on what bucket to get as you. I went with the 73" bucket. I'm glad I did. I push snow, move mulch, move dirt with it. I originally was told that the wider bucket wasn't built as strong as the smaller. So far, I have had no problems and I beat the s#@t out of it.. I have never found it to be "too big" Go with the bigger one unless you have a specific need for a narrower bucket.

Brad,
I have the 73" bucket on my 4400/430 and am pretty happy with it. The only suggestion I would make would be to get the HD version right off the bat. Using JD's product configuration page, you would deduct $510.00 from the cost of the 430 loader for removing the stock bucket and then add $685.00 for the HD 73" bucket. That means it only cost you $175.00 to move up to the HD bucket. Probably well worth the money.

That's the way I've got it spec'd out now, w/ the 73" HD bucket. Originally the dealer had told me only the 61" came in HD, thus my concern. I found it on the JD website and called him back and he looked a little harder and admitted he was wrong. Thanks for the comments.
