Hmm, if the critical dimensions are really OK, I might have to start saving my pennies.
2" longer. That is going to be a tight fit, although it might be doable....only slightly longer.
PJ,
If you want to send it back to PT, that is your choice, but Terry is probably not the one that is going to work on your machine. It will probably be assigned to a crew that will go through it and do what you want. You should have a list of things to do, and request a warranty, for parts and service, and if they don't get it right , what would you do next. I have learned not to trust to many people. If I can, I try and watch someone working on my stuff.
Update:
Ordered new engine which was delivered last Wednesday. Installed and running like it should.
Also installed new hour meter so should be ready for years of work.
Thanks to everyone for your assistance.

Good for you!
Is it the exact same engine as you had?
Good. Be sure and save the old engine for parts. You never know when some weird piece like a bracket or cover may break.Yes, called Terry and he said I should stick with the same engine as a larger one would be hard on the pumps.
Now I'm checking the large pump and may need to replace it.

you know, with only a slight modification, you could have fit a liquid cooled engine in there.
1. weld an extension on the engine enclosure so it looks like an outhouse
2. move the gas tank to a trailer that you tow behind
3. pull the V8 out of your dodge....
I don't know why you would have kept the same engine...
