4210H engine does when I engage the PTO

I just got my rockshaft controls and rate of drop control working. They had quit functioning due to seizing up, and while working on these items I attempted to engage the main PTO, it starts turning and the engine dies at any throttle position. Seat wires jumped.

I'll check the park brake status today when I get back out there, thanks.

I tested the parking brake, it was not set and engine dies or labors, with it set or not when PTO is engaged, I immediately shut PTO off and engine comes back to set throttle position.

Sounds like possible internal PTO clutch problem.
Have you a copy of the service tech manual to check it out?

Are you sure seat switch is bypassed correctly. My test would be to remove bypass, sit in seat and see if same thing happens. The stopping is typical of seat switch interrupted. Thing i loved about my JD870 is i could flip seat forward and pull up on seat switch. This bypassed switch and allowed use of pto while off tractor (tree chipper).

I just finished up putting left drive tire and fender on today. Tomorrow I'll install the seat and post what happens, thank you

I have the shop manual, not familiar with the syst, but fear you are right. I will get the seat on today and test, thank you

Getting the seat back in the circuit allowed the PTO to activate. Thanks to all for your input. Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!
