4210 hot pto

my 4210 sync gear with 7hr.on it,using the rear pto. after mowing high grass with my rotary cutter 5' ,using a oven thermostat tape to the rear pto box it was over 110 degree also the black rubber mat was hot ,all the way to the motor. I was in the B-range, first gear at 2600 rpm by the book. it was a cloudy day 80 degreehe grass was dry and brown easy to cut. cutter off the ground 8" the jd dealer said it is a hardship on the pto,try using it on a cool day. don't worry you have a 2 year warranty on it.the people that love there 4210 maybe are not using the pto. do I have a problem???? need help.

I think there was a thread about the hot platform before. I have a 4410 with HST and the whole back end of the tractor gets hot. I believe this is normal, all this oil goes through the hydro oil cooler. Under the platform there is a lot of steel for support that is bolted to the trans. etc. All that heat goes directly to the plastic and rubber mat. It would help cool the tractor, but seems a little excessive on the feet, maybe there is a reason behind it. All I know is that on the 90+ degree days, you can't keep your feet on the platform for very long, wear thick soled shoes. This is probably nice in the winter. I think there is a thicker hydro oil which would help protect in warmer climates, my dealer recommends the low viscosity here in southern MI.
