I love my 4025, but at 110 hours the clutch is already slipping. Sometimes I'll be using it - say shredding a pasture or just going down a dirt road, and the tach suddenly starts spinning up to 3000+ rpm and then back. I'm very careful with the clutch - I never slip it. And when moving out, I gently let it out at idle and then apply the gas pedal. I've used the loader quite a bit, but not excessively.

I remember reading somewhere that these tractors often had clutch issues. Anybody? Like I said, I love the tractor, but a clutch going out at 110 hours is kinda hard to swallow.

Perhaps the freeplay wasn't set properly in the peddle. If the peddle is set too tight it can reduce the life of the clutch.

Is it still under warranty?

How much pedal free play do you have before you feel tension on the pedal?

How much free play should there be?

I want to check mine now!

There's quite a bit of free play, but keep in mind that this is a two-stage clutch. The lower part of the pedal travel engages the PTO. The upper part engages the regular clutch. So it's supposed to travel a long way before engaging.

There should be about an inch of free play.

Lawalls, can you give me a little specific information about this free play - where it is, how to measure it, etc.?
