The pto sfaft on my 4000 ford came out while I was bushhogging. I need to know is there a retainer or anything that holds the shaft in that might have broken or come loose. Thanks for any help. PPT

Which 4000? Pre 1965 4 cylinder model or post 1965 3 cylinder?
Always mention which.
If pre 65 it is a simple task to remove the 4 bolts in the flange and pull the flange, bearing and PTO shaft out.
There is a circlip that holds the bearing and oil seal into the flange that likely came out.
