4000 ford clutch will not release

clutch will not release we do not know if it has the right clutch it has single clutch some tells me it must have double clutch

a lil devoid of info there? what 4000 is this.. a 4 cyl pre 65 model with a 4 spd? if so.. it's a single plate clutch. heck.. a 4000 3 cyl w/ ind pto is a single plate clutch.

is it seized so that you can't shift it?

post back a LIL more info so we can help you.

I need someone to tell me what clutch is the right one when i bought the tractor it had clutch problems so i bought every thing new it still will not work

Simple questions, 4 cylinder engine or 3?

How many forward speeds in the transmission?

OP has two threads running with the same topic.. They should be merged.
From the other thread, he has an 8 speed 3 cyl diesel.
I'm going to assume it's an independent PTO, so that would be a single stage clutch? I'm not telling, I'm asking. LOL

3 cyl 4000 8 speed would have a single disc and IPTO, correct.
He probably has the traction disc in backwards.
