I had a need for a large carry all for my MX4700. I learned to gas weld in my teens, welding expansion chambers on my MX bikes, but I had never learned to stick or MIG weld. Until now. Well, some would say I STILL haven't learned how to mig weld. I bought a Lincoln Weld-Pak 3200HD last year and tinkered until now.

I started with a TSC carry-all frame and build a 4 x 4 box on top of it. I started with 3" angle, 3/16" thick for the box frame, welding it to the TSC frame. I used 2" angle, 3/16" thick for the floor of the box, inverting the angle. I assumed (bad thing to do) that the TSC frame was built at an exact 90 degree angle and started piecing the box together, welding it to the frame as I went. Finally, I used 1/4" expanded metal for the sides, tacking it to the inside of the 3" channel. I'm not sure the expanded metal will stay put over time, so I have some "L"s I can weld in to help hold the sides in place. Think I should do that? I used Lincoln Innershield wire, .035 throughout. Did I mention that I hate those 1 lb. rolls of Innershield?

It's not done yet, but is almost ready for paint, powder, and chrome as some famous people would say. Any idea what it would cost to have it powdercoated? Here's some pics.....
